How to Leverage Background Knowledge to Improve Reading Comprehension

How to Leverage Background Knowledge to Improve Reading Comprehension

Overview

We believe that English language arts is an opportunity for students to practice the skills of reading and writing while building background knowledge and vocabulary in science, history, geography, and more. Research shows that by intentionally building new knowledge and engaging students’ prior knowledge educators can support growth in reading comprehension, memory, fluency, and reading speed—all while supporting students’ desire to learn more about the world.

In this webinar we will share how both Wit & Wisdom® and Geodes® are intentionally crafted to integrate skills development and practice with information rich content to help students build knowledge across modules and grade levels.
